A Tencel-led print cloth at just 50 g/m² — 85% Tencel with 15% nylon, which is a very light, fluid cloth indeed. The print is a dense, hand-drawn meadow: small birds, red-capped toadstools, daisies, seed heads and slender wildflower spikes, all outlined in fine black line and filled with pale washes of pink, blue, yellow and sage on an off-white ground.
The design
- Drawn, not filled – the black line work carries the design; the colour sits behind it as a soft wash. It reads as illustration rather than as a graphic repeat.
- Dense all-over – the motifs are small and closely packed, so there is no obvious empty ground and no strong direction to the repeat.
- Gentle palette – pale pink, blue, yellow and sage on off-white. Easy to place next to plains and easy to coordinate within a range.
- Small motifs – the design holds up on childrenswear and on small pattern pieces, where larger prints are lost.
- Scale reference – the last image in the gallery is shot with a ruler laid across the cloth.
The cloth at 50 g/m²
This is the lightest cloth we run. At 50 g/m² it behaves quite differently from a 100 g/m² cotton print:
- Drape – extremely fluid. It falls and gathers with almost no resistance, so it suits soft, loose shapes.
- Weight – barely there. Garments are very cool and very light to wear.
- Handle – Tencel gives a smooth, cool hand; the fine count keeps the surface delicate rather than papery.
- Opacity – at 50 g/m² the cloth is light and will show what is behind it. If the garment needs coverage, plan a lining and test it against your underlayer before committing.
- Sewing – a fine needle, a light stitch and a gentle hand. The cloth shifts easily, so pin or baste generously. French seams, rolled hems and narrow bindings all suit this weight.
- Care – gentle washing, low iron. Treat it as a delicate.
Commonly used for
- Blouses, dresses and skirts – the fluid drape and the fine print suit a soft, layered silhouette.
- Childrenswear – the small motif scale and gentle palette work well on small garments.
- Scarves and light accessories – the cloth carries a print beautifully at very low weight.
- Linings and overlay layers – useful where a printed layer sits over a plain garment.
- Resort and summer ranges – the weight and the airy design both point to warm-weather wear.
Ordering, MOQ and lead time
Digital print minimum order quantity is 5 metres, and production runs 5-7 working days from artwork confirmation.
Because this is such a light cloth, order the minimum first and check it on your own machine: how the print reads over your intended underlayer, and how the fabric feeds and finishes at this weight.
