A 100% polyester fabric at 145 g/m² carrying a permanent crinkle finish: fine wavy lines running in one direction across the cloth, with the ridges catching light so the colour shifts as the fabric moves. The texture is set into the cloth — it does not press out — which is what makes it useful both for garments that want surface interest without a print and for applications where a flat cloth looks too plain.
The texture
- Permanent crinkle – the pleat is set into the cloth rather than pressed in, so it survives wear and washing.
- Directional texture – the crinkle lines run in one direction. Cut panels in the same orientation to keep the texture consistent across a garment.
- Light and shade – the ridges and hollows catch light differently, so the surface has depth and the colour reads differently from each angle.
- Hides creasing – a textured cloth is far more forgiving of the creases that appear through a day's wear than a flat one.
- Two surfaces – the same cloth reads formal or casual depending on what it is cut into, which makes it efficient to hold in stock.
Colour card
| Colour | Character |
|---|---|
| Gold / mustard | Warm, and the most dimensional — the sheen on the ridges shows most here |
| Black | Deep and quiet; the texture does the work without colour |
| Cream / ivory | Soft and neutral; good for bridal and occasionwear |
| Teal / green | A strong mid-tone that reads rich against the crinkle |
| Pale peach | Light and warm; softens the texture visually |

The cloth at 145 g/m², 155 cm wide
- Width – 155 cm is a wide cut, which gives more room on a marker and reduces metres per garment.
- Weight – 145 g/m² is a mid-weight with enough body to hold a shape.
- Drape – the crinkle stiffens the cloth slightly compared with a flat polyester, so it holds volume.
- Handle – a dry, textured hand with a low sheen on the ridges.
- Sewing – polyester feeds easily and does not fray heavily; use a needle and stitch suited to a synthetic, and avoid pressing the texture flat.
- Care – wash cool; the crinkle is set, but hot ironing directly on the cloth will flatten it.
Commonly used for
- Dresses, skirts and blouses – the texture gives a plain shape surface interest without a print.
- Occasionwear and bridal – the cream and gold shades in particular.
- Scarves, wraps and accessories – the light and shade on the crinkle reads well in a small piece.
- Home textiles and decoration – cushions and drapery with a built-in texture.
- Stage and costume – the surface catches stage light.
