A silk and rayon print at 60 g/m², cut at 140 cm. The design is deliberately unfixed: irregular olive-green and pale butter-yellow marks sit in loose horizontal bands across a white ground, with feathered, brush-like edges rather than drawn outlines. It reads closer to a hand-painted or ikat resist effect than to a conventional repeat — there is no hard edge anywhere in the print and no obvious directional repeat.
The design
- Feathered edges – the marks blur out rather than stopping cleanly, which gives the cloth a painted, watercolour quality.
- Loose banding – the motifs run in soft horizontal bands, so the surface has rhythm without a rigid repeat.
- Two-colour palette – olive green and a pale yellow only, on white. Quiet, and easy to pair with plains.
- No direction – with no hard repeat and no clear grain, panels can be cut either way.
- Scale reference – the first image in the gallery is shot with a ruler laid across the cloth.
The cloth: silk and rayon at 60 g/m²
Silk brings lustre and a dry, soft hand; rayon brings drape and a little more weight in the fall. Together they give a light cloth that behaves like a fine dress fabric rather than a shirting:
- Lustre – a soft, low-key sheen rather than a high gloss; it lifts the colour without looking synthetic.
- Drape – fluid and close-falling. It gathers into fine folds and hangs without stiffness.
- Weight – 60 g/m² is a fine, light cloth. Garments are cool and light to wear.
- Opacity – light enough that opacity depends on the garment; plan for a lining or a self-layer if coverage matters, and test it against your underlayer.
- Sewing – a fine needle and a light stitch. This is a cloth that shifts, so pin or baste generously; French seams and rolled hems suit it.
- Care – treat as a delicate: gentle washing, low iron, and test a swatch before bulk finishing.
Commonly used for
- Blouses and shirts – the drape and the soft print suit a fluid, loose silhouette.
- Dresses and skirts – gathers and bias cuts come easily at this weight.
- Pyjamas, robes and sleepwear – a fine, smooth cloth with a quiet print.
- Scarves and accessories – the lustre and the painted look carry a small piece.
- Linings and overlay layers – light enough to sit under or over another cloth.
Ordering, MOQ and lead time
Minimum order quantity is 50 metres, and production runs 5-7 working days from artwork confirmation.
Custom design is available. Digital printing works from a file, so your own artwork, colourway or repeat can be printed on this base cloth.
Because the cloth is fine, check two things on a sample before bulk: how it behaves on your machine, and how the print reads over the layer you intend to put behind it.
