A linen-viscose blend with a touch of spandex, at 150-155 g/m² and 138 cm wide, dyed to a deep red. The weave shows the irregular slub that linen-viscose is known for, and the viscose in the blend keeps the cloth fluid rather than stiff, so it moves as a dress fabric while still holding a line.

Why the blend is put together this way

  • Linen (55%) – gives the cloth its character: a dry hand, a visible slub in the weave, and the ability to stay cool against the skin.
  • Viscose (42%) – softens the linen and adds drape. Pure linen can stand away from the body; the viscose in this blend lets the cloth fall.
  • Spandex (3%) – a small amount for ease of movement and shape recovery, so a close-fitting garment keeps its line through the day.

The cloth

  • Weight – 150-155 g/m² is mid-weight: substantial enough for a structured dress or jacket, light enough for a shirt or a jumpsuit.
  • Surface – a visible, slightly irregular slub runs through the weave; this is the character of the blend, not a fault.
  • Sheen – a soft, low lustre rather than a flat matte, so the colour reads with depth as the cloth moves.
  • Drape – fluid with body: it hangs but does not collapse.
  • Sewing – linen blends can shift at the cut edge, so handle panels gently and finish seams; use a needle suited to a mid-weight woven.
  • Care – wash cool and line dry; the blend creases less than pure linen, and the spandex means heat should be kept moderate.

Colour

The photographs show this quality in a deep red — a rich, slightly muted crimson that reads dark in shadow and warm in light.

A colour card is available, so other shades can be selected from stock or matched for a production run. Ask us for the current card and stock colours.

Commonly used for

  • Dresses and jumpsuits – the drape and the mid-weight suit both simple and structured shapes.
  • Shirts and blouses – particularly where a linen look is wanted without pure linen's stiffness.
  • Skirts and trousers – the spandex helps a closer fit sit comfortably.
  • Jackets and overshirts – enough body to hold a soft structure.
  • Home textiles – cushions and light throws where a richer colour is wanted.
