100% Cotton Digital Print Fabric – Plum and Ochre & Cottage Garden Mix, 70 GSM, Width 145 cm

A 100% cotton print at 70 g/m² and 145 cm wide. This is the lightest weight in the range — close to a voile — and it behaves accordingly: airy, slightly translucent on a cream ground, and very soft in the hand. It is the weight to choose when the garment is meant to float, and the weight to avoid when it must be opaque.

The Cloth

• Weight – 70 g/m². Sheer to semi-sheer: fine for a blouse over a camisole, a lined dress, a scarf or a loose overshirt; not suitable for an unlined skirt or a fitted bodice on its own.
• Composition – 100% cotton: breathable, cool, machine washable.
• Width – 145 cm. Because the cloth is light, choose patterns with gathers or an easy fit rather than sharp tailoring.
• Handle – soft, dry and light in the hand; it drapes and gathers easily and presses flat with little effort.
• Sewing – a fine needle (60/8 or 70/10) and a fine thread; French seams, rolled hems and narrow bias binding suit it. Avoid heavy topstitching, which drags on a 70 g/m² cloth.
• Care – hand or gentle machine wash cool, line dry in shade, press warm. Light cotton dries fast and creases lightly.

The Two Designs

• L-27 Plum and Ochre – deep plum and aubergine flowers with small ochre-mustard blooms and sage-grey leaves on a cream ground. A muted, slightly vintage palette: the purple carries the pattern and the ochre warms it, so it reads rich rather than sweet.
• L-26 Cottage Garden Mix – a full cottage-garden mix: pink and deep pink roses, blue cornflowers, yellow buttercups, cream daisies and small sprigs, all on cream. The busiest of the range; it needs a simple garment shape so the print does the work.
